Local SEO for Trades — Australia-wide

Getting found for your trade, your suburbs.

SEO for a trade business is not the same game as SEO for an online store. You are not competing nationally — you are competing for the dozen or so suburbs you will actually drive to. That is a much narrower fight, and a winnable one.

What It Actually Involves

Three things move the needle. The rest is noise.

Google Business Profile

For most local trades this outranks the website itself. Categories chosen properly, service areas set, hours that match reality, photos added regularly, and a review habit that keeps the profile alive. Most trade profiles are set up once and then never touched again, which is exactly why there is room to beat them.

Service And Suburb Pages

Nobody types "plumber". They type "blocked drain Preston" or "emergency electrician Geelong". Each real service gets its own page written the way people search for it, instead of one services page listing everything in dot points and ranking for none of it.

The Technical Floor

Fast pages, valid structured data, a clean sitemap, no duplicate URLs competing with each other. None of this wins on its own. All of it quietly loses for you if it is missing or broken.

Straight Talk

What nobody honest will promise you.

Nobody can guarantee a number one ranking. Anyone who does is either guessing or planning something that will eventually get your site penalised. Rankings move, Google changes its mind, and your competitors hire people too.

What can be promised is the work itself: the profile set up properly, pages built around searches people genuinely make, the technical faults found and fixed, and a clear monthly picture of where you actually sit. On a new site expect visible movement in weeks and results worth counting in months — not days.

We would also rather tell you when SEO is not your problem. If your site takes six seconds to load, or there is no obvious way to call you from a phone, ranking higher just sends more people to a page that will not convert them. Fix the website first. It is cheaper and it works faster.

Common Questions

Straight answers, no fine print.

How long does SEO take for a trade business?

Google Business Profile work can move the map pack within weeks. Website rankings take longer — usually three to six months before the change is obvious, and longer again in a competitive capital city. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either guessing or about to do something that gets your site penalised.

Do I still need SEO if I already show up in the map pack?

The map pack shows three businesses and it reshuffles based on where the searcher is standing. Appearing for your own suburb does not mean you appear two suburbs over, and it does nothing for the service searches that never trigger a map at all. The goal is both.

Do you do SEO on a website you did not build?

Yes, as long as we can get proper access to it. We audit it first and tell you honestly whether SEO is worth doing on the site as it stands, or whether the build itself is the thing holding you back.

What is the difference between SEO and digital marketing?

SEO is the work that gets people to find you on Google without paying per click. Digital marketing is the broader set of things that put you in front of people who were not searching yet — mainly social media and paid ads. Most trades should get SEO working first.

Will I get a report?

Yes, in plain English. Where you rank for the searches that matter, what moved since last month, what was done, and what happens next. No forty-page PDF of charts nobody reads.
