Malvern East · Melbourne inner south-east

We dig it up,
pour it, build it,
and plant it.

Landscaping and concrete under one crew — so the paving, the drainage and the garden are all decided by the same people, on the same job.

The job

Torn-up backyard to finished pool surround.

Drag the handle. Same corner of the same garden — the left is the pour going in, the right is what the owners walk out onto now.

Backyard stripped to dirt with the pool shell exposed during excavation
Finished pool surround with bluestone paving, glass fencing and a timber deck

How a build runs

Four stages. You'll know
which one you're in.

Most of the cost and all of the durability sit in the two stages nobody photographs. Here's the order they happen in.

  1. Stage 01

    Walk the block

We come out, look at the fall of the land, where water goes, and what access we've got for machinery. You get a fixed written quote — not a range.

  2. Stage 02

    Strip and level

Excavation, removal, drainage and base prep. The unglamorous fortnight that decides whether your paving still sits flat in ten years.

  3. Stage 03

    Pour and build

Concrete, paving, retaining, decking, walls. Poured and finished by the same crew that dug the site, so nothing gets lost in a handover.

  4. Stage 04

    Plant and hand over

Soil, turf, garden beds and planting go in last. We clean the site, walk you through it, and tell you what needs watering for the first month.

What we take on

Hard landscaping first,
soft landscaping last.

Concrete & paving

Driveways, paths, slabs and pool surrounds. Poured, screeded and finished on site.

Retaining walls

Stone, block or timber, engineered to hold a slope rather than just face it.

Pool surrounds

Coping, paving and glass fence footings, coordinated around the pool trades.

Decking

Hardwood decks framed, laid and oiled, stepped to meet paving cleanly.

Garden construction

Beds, soil, planting and turf, chosen for the light and the upkeep you want.

Drainage & regrading

Ag lines, pits and falls, so water leaves the block instead of pooling on it.

Who turns up

One crew, start to finish.

Notlee Landscapes is a Malvern East outfit doing landscaping and concrete on the same jobs — which matters more than it sounds. When the concreter and the landscaper are different companies, the levels don't match, the drainage argument happens after the pour, and you're the one standing in the middle of it.

Here the same crew digs the site, pours the slab and plants the beds. If something's wrong, there's one number to call.

The work goes up on Instagram as it happens — over 500 posts of real jobs, most of them mid-build rather than styled at the end.

Common questions

What does a job like this cost?

[EDIT — recommended: a real starting figure, e.g. "Most full backyard builds we do land between $X and $Y. Paving-only jobs start around $Z."] Every quote is fixed and written before we start.

How long will my backyard be a building site?

[EDIT — typical range, e.g. "A courtyard runs about a week. A full backyard with concrete and planting is usually three to four."] We give you the timeline with the quote and tell you if weather moves it.

Do you do concrete on its own, without the landscaping?

Yes. Driveways, slabs and paving are taken on as standalone jobs as well as part of a full build.

Are you licensed and insured?

[EDIT — add public liability cover amount and ABN. This is one of the first things a homeowner checks before letting a crew on the property.]

How do I get a quote?

Call or send a few photos of the space through the form below. We'll come out, walk the block and put a fixed price in writing.

Photos help. So does anything you already know about drainage, access, or what the block does when it rains.
